Whatever our age, if we want to stay looking young, it is ESSENTIAL we look after our skin. Perhaps just a simple skincare routine is your bag…I understand how the whole world of skincare can be quite overwhelming. Just do what you feel is right for you!
Skin experts do advise that you use more than just moisturiser and if you havn’t used serums before, i HIGHLY recommend. Below are my go to day to day creams and potions, all vegan and cruelty free.
VEGAN & CRUELTY FREE MOISTURISERS
It’s advised that we moisturise every morning and night. Moisturiser is designed to lock moisture in. It’s also designed to lock in any other products you have put on underneath (serums for example). Serums should always be applied before moisturiser.
VEGAN & CRUELTY FREE SPF
Face SPF should be the LAST product we put on our faces in our skincare routines in the morning. Then you can choose to make-up on or not. We should be wearing it all year round too…not just in the summer. The Sun is one of the biggest causes for skin aging…so if you want to look young forever…WEAR SUNSCREEN. Here are my favourite, clear and tinted sunscreens that i wear every day. I wear of 30 or 50 on my face every day. no matter if it is sunny or not.
VEGAN & CRUELTY FREE BALMS & OILS
Oh I adore a good face balm and oil. First of all, if your skin is feeling dry….SLAP that on!! Slather your face in the good stuff before you go to bed and i am sure you will feel a lot better by morning. Balms and oils are also amazing for face massaging. We need a really slippy product for face massage and moisturiser sinks into the skin too quickly. If i am feel anxious about something, i will often take myself away for a relaxing 5 minute self massage, together with the motions, draining and smells of the magical oil or balm…it really can be powerful!
VEGAN & CRUELTY FREE SERUMS
If you care about your skin looking good- i HIGHLY recommend using serums as well as moisturisers. For a good guide on what you might need, check out Caroline Hirons book- SKINCARE. I am NOT a skincare expert…I am a make-up expert…so of course i work with skin, love it and know a lot about it. Skin is a complicated thing and if you have any specific issues i highly recommend seeing a specialist. This is what I use and love regularly and I have combination skin, with some congestion on my skin, brown spots, veins under my eyes and in my early 30s.
I mostly use the following-
Niacinamide, which could well be…. my favourite thing EVER to put on my face. I usually The Ordinary. It really is an incredible product. It should help with hyper-pigmentation spots, fine lines, wrinkles and should give an over all more ‘ even’ skin tone. Amazing for under eye dark circles too. It’s also got inflammatory properties so should help reduce inflamed and angry skin-like acne for example.
Hyaluronic acid I also love and use every day. DISCLAIMER: Hyluronic acid traditionaly came from rooster combs- NOT VEGAN. The versions i am sharing with you are synthetic or plant based. Hyaluronic acid, It’s like giving your skin a pint of water! A wonderful product to hydrate your complexion…especially in the winter. I use this every single day throughout the year- often twice a day. It should help to plump skin, meaning that any fine lines and wrinkles appear more smooth and give an over all radiance! My favourites are Evolve & Balance me.
Vitamin C is also one I love to use every few days. It is packed with antioxidants which will help regenerate any damaged cells and also fight against premature ageing. It will also help Collagen production and protects Elastin. My go to Vitamin C’s are the Balance me one and also Lixirskin
If this is all too confusing… it’s ok!! You can for sure go for a serum that does it all…has it all in there! My favourites are Evolve and Charlotte Tilbury.
VEGAN & CRUELTY FREE EYE CREAMS
The skin around our eyes are MUCH thinner than on the rest of our faces so is likely to loose elasticity and become wrinkled earlier on in life than the rest of our skin. Which of course, makes so much sense that we need to treat it differently. Formulas around the world have worked so hard to create under eye creams to brighten the skin as well as de-buff and smooth out fine lines. As we are looking at vegan and cruelty free products…we are a little more limited for options…and i will ONLY give recommendations on products i really believe to see a difference in so therefore…this list is VERY short.
