To hot brush or not to hot brush…

I bought my GHD RISE hot brush about a year ago.

As a make-up artist, I very often do simple and natural hair on set. The reason I bought it was that firstly- I just had some new bangs, a bit of a fringe cut into my hair and heard that a hot brush would be good to style bangs.

So over the past year I have used it on many clients as well as myself. It is a big investment, around £140 and I felt reading reviews very helpful as really didn’t want to waste my money.

So here it is, my honest review on the GHD rise.

So the long and straight (or should I say wavy) is that if you have short hair, face framing or a fringe and you can afford it then I do really recommend! Make sure you persevere with it as once you get used to it it’s so much easier as first can be a little fiddly.

PROS…

– It creates super soft and natural tussled waves.

– It works wonders for face framing and fringes, boosting volume at the roots

– It is brilliant on short hair to really mould hair shapes and give volume

CONS…

– For long hair, it just seems a little silly to use it for curling if you already have a curling wand that works well. (Unless you have a fringe or softer cut around the face)

– Long hair especially it gets a little getting used to. Hair gets a little caught in the spikes…this doesn’t really happen with shorter hair.

– its pretty pricey at £160 however: it’s ghd so hopefully will last up to 10 years rather than buying a string of cheep ones that break quickly and end up in landfill.
