Yoga pants, Work out pants, Work out leggings…what are we supposed to call them?
I use mine for yoga, working out but also living life day to day…. if I can get away with wearing comfy leggings over jeans- it is a no brainer for me! How about you?
I have even started pairing leggings with a nice suit jacket and it instantly dresses you up with no one asking why you are in sports wear!
So let’s talk about the best eco friendly leggings.
I have a few…and my collection is expanding so please do share your favourites with me too!
Tala
The brand Tala I must say is bloomin’ BEAUTIFUL. They make sports wear with a focus on using fabrics that are ethically sourced and ethically made. Guys, these leggings are SO COMFORTABLE. The fabric is a dream next to the skin, so soft and they hold up well on the tummy. They fit snuggly around the legs and pull in in all the right places.
Here’s a little info about their fabrics…
Q-NOVA®
Q-Nova uses regenerated waste materials that would otherwise have been disposed of to create lightweight, breathable fabrics.
Recover®
Recover® uses textile waste as a raw material resource, reducing the amount of land, water, emissions and chemicals needed to create our clothes. Recover Recycled Cotton is the most sustainable cotton solution available today.
Lyocell
Lyocell is an environmentally friendly fibre made from wood pulp.
Bamboo
Did you know that bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world, and uses 10% the amount of land as cotton to produce the same yield?
Cotton
Cotton is a wonderfully versatile natural fabric, and at TALA we use a combination of recycled cotton and organic cotton.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose
Viscose is a semi-synthetic fibre that’s made from trees, and is the third most commonly used textile in the world! More than 150 million trees are logged each year to turn into cellulosic fabric which is why we only use sustainably sourced wood pulp with maximum supply chain transparency.
Recycled Nylon
Nylon is a very versatile fabric, especially when it comes to activewear. Tala’s recycled nylon is certified by the Global Recycling Standard (GRS) to ensure they only use pre-consumer waste, rather than non-renewable resources. This is material that would have been sent to landfill or downcycled if they didn’t use it!
Wolf and badger
Ok, so it’s not a brand…it’s a store but they have a great selection of concious brands on there and one of my favourite shops for sure. They are a b.corp certified shop selling clothes, beauty, homeward and more and if you don’t already know much about Wolf and Badger…prepare to be addicted like me! They hand pick and support small indy brands with a focus on concious production. They vary in sustainability of course…but it is a great place to start. They have a brilliant selection of eco friendly sportswear.
They have sustainable sportswear from brands such as Rhaika, Strutt, Wolven, West Seventy Nine and so much more.
I bought some leggings and sports bra last year from a brand called Rhaika on Wolf and Badger and am in LOVE. Note that mine came quite big. I usually order a 10 and they felt more of a 12.
I sadly ordered the wrong size and think that the leggings are slightly too big for me which means they shimmy down the legs. So note that if you want to but this exact pair.
Please enjoy my selection of the cutest leggings sold on Wolf and Badger
Usa Pro
I know what you are thinking…..]
Use Pro is not really know for it’s concious collection, however last year they launched a range with the beautiful inside and out Steph Elswood which was a sustainable sports wear collection made from plastic bottles!
16 plactic bottles are used in every pair of leggings using the company ‘Repreve’. The leggings at 83% Repreve and the rest elastane.
I went for the green and they also do a lovely nude shade.
I love these leggings. They are super comfy, stretchy and flattering. They are also super affordable. Their RRP is around £50 but they are always part of deals. As I write this they are just £13. A really affordable eco friendly sportswear option if you ask me,
Here are a few more pieces from the collection that I think you might like…
So here we have my top 3 eco friendly yoga pants in the UK. I will add to this list as and when I have new sustainable yoga pants. I would also LOVE to hear about your favourites that I should be trying.
Love, Em-J xx
